Who We Are

Bangladesh Animal Welfare Association (BAWA), founded by Mr. Tarique Rahman, is a pioneering non-profit organization dedicated to safeguarding the rights and well-being of all animals in Bangladesh.

We envision a nation where humans and animals co-exist in harmony, ensuring a balanced and sustainable ecosystem for future generations.

Since 2025, driven by a passionate team of animal conservators, veterinarians and legal experts, we are committed to ethical treatment, transparency, and sustainable impact for the animal. We collaborate with animal conservation related Government officials ( Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Ministry of Fisheries and Livestocks), other voluntary conservation organisations, animal activists, NGOs, NPOs and local communities to promote humane practices and raise awareness about animal welfare and co-existence.

Our Inspiration:

”A civilized nation is defined by how it treats its animals. Let’s build a Bangladesh where every life is valued and every soul is safe.”

—Mr. Tarique Rahman, Chief Patron, BAWA.

Policy Advocacy & Education

We work closely with communities and authorities to enforce animal welfare laws and promote a culture of empathy through awareness campaigns.

Guided by the visionary leadership of our Chief Patron, Mr. Tarique Rahman, BAWA was founded on the principle that a truly democratic and civilized society must protect its most vulnerable—its animals and nature.

Under the strategic direction of Chief Co-ordinator Mr. Atiqur Rahman Rumon and the expertise of renowned animal specialist and Convener Mr. Adnan Azad, we are building a nationwide movement for animal rights.

At BAWA, we believe that being “Animal-Friendly” is not just a choice, but a moral obligation. As our Chief Patron states, “The country should be a safe haven for all living souls.” From the majestic Royal Bengal Tiger in the Sundarbans to the stray cats and dogs on our city streets, every life has it’s own intrinsic value.

Commitment:

Our Motto is “Let the country be a safe habitat for all living beings.”

We will work to protect all animals; domestic, and endangered wildlife, so they can live safely and naturally without fear of harm, cruelty, or extinction.

Our Impact:

We believe that every second counts when a life is at risk. Our rescue operations span from urban streets to remote islands, ensuring that no animal is left behind.
